I deeply admire John Burton, a wonderfully trained, broadly educated teacher and administrator. John gets to know his students and cares about what is going on in their lives. When I sat in on his classes, I saw his imaginative approach and real exchanges with students, focused on what students wanted and needed to know.
John can coax not knowing into real understanding, and each student in their own way is grateful. He is dedicated to learning and enjoys working with students. He reminds me of a quote from Chaucer: ‘And gladly would he learn and gladly teach.’
